Finding a friend who will always have your back is hard, especially when you suffer from social anxiety.
Even small interactions can seem like a frightening task when you believe people don’t want you to be around or everyone is judging your every move.
But having one good friend can ease the agony. There is no need to have many friends as long as you have someone who would stay not only in good times but also in times of need.
One Tumblr user shared a heartwarming story about a girl who endured bullying and taunts just to help her socially anxious friend.
One internet user commented: “This is beautiful. I had extremely bad social anxiety my senior yr and I would hardly go to class. So my best friend at the time would pick me up after school and bring me back to after school tutorials and sit the entire time I had tutoring even if I was there for hours.”
Another said: “I think it’s really brave and sweet for that one student to constantly ask questions, she is indirectly helping a lot of people. Especially to those that are too afraid or anxious to ask in fear of being judged, accused, made fun of.”
A third added: “I’m glad everyone is focusing on the positive aspect of this story, the friend helping the friend. BUT… WTF w/the rest of the classmates? The damned TEACHER? Students are SUPPOSED to ask questions. Teachers are supposed to ANSWER THEM. They get PAID to answer questions.”
Someone else wrote: “honestly never understood that either. The fact that you are asking questions means you are willing to learn more and fully grasp the lesson. By teasing those who ask you are discouraging curiosity :/ I’ve met some teachers who are like this but they really shouldn’t be.”
