A 17-year-old girl was left with a huge facial swelling after squeezing a small pimple on her nose.
Mary Ann Regacho from Nueva Ecija, Philippines said she popped a stubborn pimple on her nose last year.
She thought that the spot was only caused by hormonal issues but it has led to painful swelling that spread across her face, obscuring her vision.
Regacho, who just gave birth to a boy last year, knew what skin problems pregnancy and puberty can cause.
But after squeezing the small lump on the side of her nose with her hand, the area started to swell and became very painful.
The swelling did not improve and continued to spread across her face, reaching the corners of her eyes.
According to Viral Press, Regacho said the swelling had spread from her nose to her cheeks and forehead.
“I thought it was only a common pimple, but it hurt so much I could not sleep at night. I tried everything to cure it but nothing worked,” she expressed.
“Now, I feel like my face will never be the same again.”
Regacho and her partner, Albert Salles, don’t have a steady income and could not seek medical attention.
After a year of struggling with the swelling, the teenage mom finally had her condition checked at a small provincial hospital.
However, she was transferred to a different facility as the small hospital did not have the proper equipment to identify her illness.
Her husband has now appealed for help as it’s difficult to pay for medical expenses.
“We only earn enough for ourselves and our one-year-old baby so I can’t afford her medical bills,” Salles said in a video recorded by his aunt.
