A 9-year-old girl from Texas wrote heartbreaking messages with code words to her father to inform him that she doesn’t feel safe with her mother’s fiancé.
A video of her telling her grandmother that she had been sexually abused by the man was also shared online, inspiring a campaign on social media called Stand With Sophie.
The young girl is at the center of a custody battle between her mom, 34-year-old Kelly, and father, 41-year-old Michael, that has dragged on since their 2015 divorce.
But a judge reportedly allowed Sophie and her two brothers to go back to their mother despite the increasing social media pressure.
Daily Mail revealed that Sophie sent notes to her dad during lockdown in which she suggested code words to use on the phone, including ‘dandelions’ and ‘daisies’ for danger, and ‘pens’ for fights.
Court documents also include records of Sophie’s visits to medical facilities after she complained of discomfort and pain in her private parts.
The young girl also complained of being touched by ‘Mr. Jake and his friends touched her sometimes and she doesn’t like it.’
Sophie was tested for STDs and treated for a bacterial infection, reports revealed.
Both Michael and Kelly appeared at a court hearing via Zoom during which the judge banned both of them from disparaging the other in front of their kids.
Sophie and her two brothers are back with their mother and the judge has allowed weekend visits with their dad.
The Frisco Police Department is currently investigating the sexual allegations made by the young girl.
