A 6-year-old girl playing outside her family’s home in Kentucky was taken by a kidnapper driving a red Dodge Charger.
Body camera footage captured the moment cops rescued the child from 40-year-old Robby Wildt’s car after a quick-thinking neighbor saw the abduction.
According to reports, neighbor Prentiss Weatherford was sitting on the porch when the kidnapping incident happened.
Speaking to WAVE3, Weatherford said: “It happened quick. He came around the corner, parked his car, got out within 15 seconds.”
He recalled the moment the kidnapper grabbed the 6-year-old girl by her collar while she was riding her bicycle outside her home.
The suspect then threw the child in the front passenger seat and drove away.
Weatherford and his father immediately hopped in their car and followed the kidnapper’s vehicle, writing down the plate number.
While following the car, Weatherford came across a cop who had been called by someone else and gave him the kidnapper’s license plate number.
Officer Jason Burba and Sgt. Joe Keeling found the Dodge parked in a driveway, rescued the sobbing girl, and arrested Wildt, WMUR reported.
Burba’s bodycam shows the moment he jumped out from the police car with his gun drawn. He walked toward the Dodge and commanded: “Open the passenger door!”
He then opened the passenger door and found the crying girl inside.
“Hello,” the officer told the girl. “It’s okay. Come here.”
Bulba then carried the child, who screamed in tears: “I want my daddy!”
Wildt was ordered to kneel on the ground before they placed him in handcuffs. He was charged with one count of kidnapping a minor with the bond set at $1 million.
“Fortunately the entire incident only lasted about 30 minutes due to the quick actions of the community and LMPD,” officials said in a statement.
