A loyal service dog has appeared next to his owner and his favorite human in the girl’s school yearbook.
Hadley Jo is a young girl with special needs who relies on her service dog, Ariel, to help her manage her condition and ensure her parents are alert before her seizures strike.
Beyond their professional relationship, Hadley and Ariel are best friends who do everything together and refuse to leave each other’s side.
“Ariel is Hadley Jo’s seizure alert service dog. Ariel saves my daughter’s life by alerting us before a seizure happens, allowing us to administer rescue medication in less than two minutes,” the girl’s mum, Heather DeVore Lange, said in an interview with The Dodo.
“My goal is to provide my daughter an independent life as much as possible and Ariel helps to make that happen.”
Since Hadley requires Ariel to stay by her side at all times, the pooch also accompanies her to school where she became popular among students and teachers.
To honor Ariel and the service she provides to Hadley, it’s no surprise that the dog, too, was invited to pose for a photo that was posted next to Hadley’s in the school yearbook.
“I have to admit I teared up. The inclusiveness and acceptance of my daughter and her service dog means the world to me,” the proud mother told The Dodo.
“It is beyond comforting to know that my daughter and her service dog have a home away from their home, at school, and that they are loved. They are accepted regardless of their differences.”
