A 2-year-old girl was eaten alive by crocodiles after she wandered into their enclosure.
Rom Roath Neary from Cambodia passed away after straying away from her parents and climbing through a fence at her family’s crocodile farm.
The father immediately climbed in to get her remains from the reptiles that were fighting over them. However, he only managed to get what was left of his daughter’s skull.
According to Lieutenant Och Sophen, the child’s mom, who had given birth recently, had lost track of the little girl as she was busy with their newborn.
The father returned home that day and realized his daughter was missing. He started searching for her before discovering the shattering truth.
“He found a skull in the crocodile enclosure,” Sophen said. “He confirmed the daughter fell into the crocodile enclosure and that the crocodiles killed her, leaving only her skull.”
The parents had built a fence around the crocodile enclosure but the child managed to climb through a small gap in the barrier.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the tragedy. They also issued a warning to those with crocodile farms to always keep an eye on kids.
One internet user commented: “How utterly horrific. That poor child. Also the crocodiles are kept in appalling conditions. Perhaps they were hungry from not being fed properly. A complete tragedy.”
Another said: “Poor little girl. What a horrific death. Her poor parents must be heartbroken.”
