Savannah Dahan who is an eight-year-old girl loves music, and she is majorly fond of Carrie Underwood. Savannah loves to sing her favorite songs, but unfortunately, she doesn’t have some skills that other kids of her age have because she has a hearing aid.
It seems like it is a way of living for the Dahan family as Savannah’s dad, mom, and all the siblings are deaf too. The family communicates with the help of the American Sign Language with each other.
Richard Dahan who is Savannah’s father claims that when she was born she has moderate hearing loss and everybody in my family is deaf which made it easy for her to learn the American Sign Language.
She uses the hearing aid machine at school and home sometimes, but the rest of the times she communicates using the sign language.
One day, Savannah asked her parents to record her performance while she sang ‘The Champion’ by Underwood. Ever since her video got posted online, it got viral, and people love her performance.
It is a heartwarming sight to see her singing her favorite music. Her father also said that Savannah asked us to record her video because she loves to see herself perform.
Dahan felt happy to see that people responded very positively to his daughter’s video. Many people said that the song had constructively touched them. People who can hear and who cannot both responded in such an enthusiastic manner.
The video also shows how excited and happy she is while singing the song. People are amazed by the way she learned the song because it has come out so naturally and effectively.
Dahan told The Baltimore Sun that his daughter knows how to use her expressions and body language correctly while singing and she has successfully shared her emotions through this song.
Savannah starts with first learning the lyrics of the song, and then she tries to match the beats with the words, and that’s how she can beautifully sing it.
Soon after this, the family started a page to tell people how effective it is to learn the ASL at a very young age.
Dahan said that he hopes that the video will help others to understand the depth of ASL and will help the kids to express themselves beautifully at home and school.
He also added that he is proud to have whatever he has because the family doesn’t consider themselves as disabled. They bring out the positive aspect of learning a beautiful American Sign Language.
