Two schoolgirls have been excluded from school after they have been accused of sprinkling nuts on the desk of their teacher who has severe allergies.
Despite one of the girls, 16-year-old Alexandra McDonald, passing a lie detector test paid for by her father, the school decided to exclude her alongside 17-year-old Maddie Colley.
While both students maintain their innocence, the Rochester Grammar School in Kent believes that the two girls purposely targeted the teacher knowing that they have a severe nut allergy.
Speaking about the incident, 64-year-old Peter McDonald, Alexandra’s father, said:
“The school said it was a serious health and safety offense and the teacher could have died.
“They said there was a witness who saw the girls giggling in the hallway close to the classroom during the time period they think it happened.
“The teacher apparently looked up because they heard the giggling – but that isn’t evidence that they did it.
“The school said they excluded the girls based on the probability that they did it – there is no evidence. It’s ridiculous.”
According to Alexandra, she and Maddie were only looking for her blazer at the time they were seen by the teacher. Furthermore, her words appear to be true as she passed the $800 lie detector test that her father paid for from his own pocket, determined to clear his daughter of accusations.
Despite the lack of proof that girls did anything wrong, the school decided to exclude the teens who will now have to sit their A-level mock exams in a different school.
“It was one of my friends who suggested Alex take a lie detector test,” the 64-year-old father-of-three added.
“I did a bit of research and found a reputable company. The woman who came around has been doing it all over the world for 15 years. It wasn’t a Mickey Mouse one.
“She said the results were very precise and they are more accurate when tested on young people. There were three rounds altogether including practice questions and Alex passed all of them.
“A pad was put on the chair and there were blood pressure gauge, a strap that went across the chest and wires that connected to the fingers. They filmed the whole thing and we had to leave the room.
“Alex was asked questions which covered Maddie too – whether they did it and if they knew who did it.”
As the father added, the accusations put a lot of stress on the entire family, especially Alexandra who is typically “bubbly.”
Speaking of these accusations, the 16-year-old said:
“When I was told I was going to be excluded I was shocked, I couldn’t speak.
“I’ve always wanted to be a teacher but this makes me think it’s not something I want to do, if this can happen to an innocent person. It definitely was not me.
“I loved school and the environment, I thought all the teachers were really friendly, understanding and there to help.”
