Twerking may be all the rage, but classic dance proves it can still be modern in this amazing mashup video!
Michael Binder is a lover of films and fortunately for us cinephiles, is an advocate for movie preservation. Making a career out of his love, he spends his time writing about films for websites and has even published a few books too! But this viral video, now seen almost 48 million times, is what he is most famous for… and it’s absolutely incredible!
Without spoiling it, watch the video before reading below!
“My inspiration came from What’s the Mashup? but I didn’t manage 100,” explained Binder. “The idea was to do the same for movies from the Golden Age – meaning no title later than 1953 (although there is one at the end.)”
The craziest part of all of this is that NONE of the clips used were sped up or slowed down!
Binder says that it took quite a bit of time to find legends like Gene Kelly, Shirley Temple, Judy Garland, and Fred Astaire dance and portray the catchiness and upbeat nature of the song.
It’s quite incredible what he’s done! If you want to know the names of the films, click on the video’s subtitles button.
