Finley who is a six-year-old Golden Retriever from Canandaigua, New York, can pick up the tennis balls with his mouth all by himself.
The cute pooch has managed to put a whopping six balls inside its mouth at one time, beating the previous Guinness World Record holder who picked up five balls with its mouth.
The achievement of the dog has not been made official by the Guinness World Records. His owners Cheri and Rob Molloy from New York have been pushing for the official recognition of Finley’s achievements for the past year.
According to the New York Post, the Molloy’s say the mountain of paperwork need to submit a Guinness World Record is keeping them from confirming the top spot. The family is keen to eventually submit Finley for consideration.
His owners reckon the dog discovered the talent of Finley holding tennis balls when he was about two years old. “The joy he brings to us is one thing,” Cheri Molloy told the Democrat and Chronicle. “But he brings joy to people all over the world.”
Their daughter, Erin reminisces looking over one day and seeing him ‘trotting over to me with four tennis balls in his mouth’. He was carrying five at once, she explained, before eventually moving on to six.
Finley’s Instagram page ‘FinnyBoyMolloy’ now has thousands of followers from all over the world and regularly shares updates of the pooch’s adventures. Finley likes to lie on his back and hold a ball above him with his two paws and then put it into his mouth.
The ‘official’ world record is owned by a fellow golden retriever named Augie, who managed five back in 2003.
