Art has been a powerful tool for self-expression and communication that people have resorted to both as an escape and for reality check.
Young-Sung Kim, a 43-year old South Korean artist, has become an overnight celebrity on the internet with his unique paintings that depict a hyper-realistic portrayal of objects.

Kim mostly prefers wildlife creatures and small animals like lizards, fishes, snails and frogs as his art subjects.
In fact, his paintings look so life-like and realistic that even the artist himself finds it difficult to distinguish the paintings from the digital photographs that he uses for references.
One common factor that all his paintings have though is that the artwork always has the presence of water, whether in the form of droplets or complete immersion of the subject.
Young-Sung Kim was interested in painting from a very young age, often observing frogs and amphibians in his house and trying to replicate them on paper.
And like most artists, Kim also faced a lot of objections from his family that wanted him to pursue a more lucrative and conventional career.
However, with time as Kim got better at his craft, his parents relented and understood his passion for painting.
The young artist has a graduate degree from the reputed College of Fine Arts in Hong Kong. Talking to us, Kim states that he is indeed lucky to be able to make a profession out of his passion.
However, the patience and effort it takes to complete a single piece can sometimes get frustrating for him. A painting can take anywhere between a few weeks to even months at a stretch to finish.
The video featured here is of a goldfish swimming in a glass of water with the title “Nothing. Life.Object”-stating the connection between the living and the material world.
