We all can see what is happening throughout the world as plastic has grown to become the major reason our world can end because of it.
The government and the leaders around the world are trying to find ways to reduce down the plastic waste no matter how they can.
Every minute one truck full of plastic waste is emptied in the ocean and is killing the marine life and the plastic will soon outnumber the marine animals in the ocean.
What if you can do your bit in saving the world by creating things out of the plastic bags and waste that can also help the society along with the environment?
Shelby Tillema is a senior at Lakewood High School and just like most of us, she was an active student who worked in-school club.
The only difference is that her idea of the club is making a huge change as they work to protect the environment and through the same, they are also helping the homeless.
Shelby created a club where students came together, collected all kinds of plastic bags they could and made Plarn blankets for the homeless.
The winters are extremely cold and the homeless people are not fortunate enough to save themselves from the temperature shooting down.
The least we privileged ones can do is help them a little with whatever they can.
This is why Shelby and her group created Plarn blankets and they are going to give them away to the homeless.
She said that the idea came to her head when she read about a group of old women who make plan blankets and mats by converting the plastic into thick fibers. Then they use it to build mats and blankets out of it and then give them away to the volunteers of America.
