A Good Samaritan pulled an injured motorist from a burning vehicle as others simply stood around filming the situation.
Jim Angulo was driving to work when he saw a burning truck and 20 people just standing and filming on their phones.
In an interview with WSVN, he said: “I looked to the left, and I looked to the right, and I saw 20 people with their cellphones not doing nothing, and I said, ‘It’s on me.’”
“He was like, ‘I can’t, I can’t. It’s too hot, It’s too hot. I can’t get out. I can’t get out.’”
Angulo and another kindhearted man went towards the burning truck and pulled the man out of the window. The injured motorist was taken to hospital while another passenger received treatment from emergency services at the scene.
“His leg was all burned. His hands were all burned. You can tell it was blisters. He was burnt up pretty good,” Angulo said to SWVN.
But the Good Samaritan denied he was a hero and said: “If I were in that same situation, I hope someone would do the same thing for me. It’s that simple.”
One internet user commented: “Where are the 20 people filming? 2 guys saved him. And one was filming it while helping pull to safety.”
Another wrote: “Brave man , as for the others actually standing there and filming the poor man stuck in the car , words fail me.”
A third added: “What is wrong with people!!”
Both lanes were shut down by the Miami Fire and Rescue for several hours as they extinguished the fire.
