Gordon Ramsay, the well-known chef, and the expletive user came in support of those people who have affected by the Aussie bushfire tragedy.
The British chef shared pictures of himself where he is packing food hampers with Foodbank Victoria, to deliver much-needed supplies to those who need it in this tough time.
Ramsay wrote on Instagram: “Thank you to the amazing volunteers at the @foodbankvictoria for helping all those affected by the bushfires…so incredible to spend time with you today.”
He was promoting his new book in the Victorian capital, but after seeing a deadly situation due to bushfires Gordon decided to launch a quick fundraiser.
The chef auctioned an exclusive private lunch for two guests in Melbourne, to donate the money to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.
But he’s also decided to pack food for Victorians affected by the bushfires.
Foodbank Victoria spokesperson Alexa Viani told the Herald Sun: “So far, our volunteers and staff have helped distribute more than 3,200 mixed grocery hampers of essential items to feed families displaced by the bushfires in East Gippsland.”
According to the charity, more than 130 pallets of water have also been delivered to the affected areas as well as ‘grab and go’ food items for first responders.
Ramsay isn’t the only celebrity who has helped pack food for the charity.
Singer Lizzo took a break from performing in Australia to help out and say it was such an honor.
On her Instagram Stories, Lizzo said: “I don’t want to politicize anything. This isn’t a political issue at this point, this is a human issue. The CO2 emissions that are being created by this fire are staggering and it affects the world.”
Weather experts are forecasting large swaths of Australia that will be flooded with rain over the coming days. It will be a great thing for firefighters, as they are still battling blazes in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Gabrielle Woodhouse said: “We are looking at a couple of days in a row of some showers and thunderstorms, some of which may produce significant accumulation over those couple of days.
“It will be quite welcome but there are some extra dangers and risks associated with it as the landscape is quite vulnerable with the fire damage.
“We’ve lost a lot of vegetations and there is the risk of landslips.”
