If you still struggle to pose for a perfect selfie, you should consider taking a lesson or two from these gorillas at the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The selfies of handsome gorillas as they pose with anti-poaching rangers at the park which is also a UNESCO world heritage site are now doing the rounds on social media.
Virunga National Park has been ‘deeply’ impacted by decades of war and armed conflict, the park’s website says.
It adds: “Virunga is protected by a dedicated team of over 600 rangers.
“These local men and women go through intensive training, risking their lives on a daily basis to safeguard the park’s exceptional wildlife, including the last of the world’s critically endangered mountain gorillas.”
Even though their job is dangerous as well as time-consuming, the rangers still find time to bond with the gorillas they are striving to protect.

In a recent snap, a ranger takes a selfie with two gorillas, Matabishi and Ndakasi, as they puff out their chest while standing behind him.
The photo was captioned ‘Another Day at the Office’.
Another similar photo taken last year shows the same gorillas, Matabishi and Ndakasi, as they pose with ranger Patrick Sadiki in a ‘Family Portrait’.

These giants sure know how to make up the right angle for a cool snap.
Another photo, taken last year, was shared with caption ‘Words to live by – Sagesse Intemporelle’. It added: “When one is still young, it seems very simple to be a hero or a martyr.
“But as one marches on in life, one understands the price of a simple act of virtue, and only God can give us the strength to achieve this.”

The photos are undoubtedly great but they’re also a sad reminder of the threat of extinction faced by these critically endangered mountain gorillas.
