A professional graffiti artist has gone viral after her ten-year-old daughter decided to become her assistant and gave the mother an excellent business idea.
Binty Bint from the UK has been a fan of graffiti art ever since she started attending secondary school. Soon enough, she converted her passion for street art into an aspiring career.
Unlike the majority of graffiti artists, however, Binty resorted to painting cheerful, cute chickens rather than socially- or politically-oriented content.
Much to the mother’s pleasure, her 10-year-old daughter, Lola, also joined her on the quest to make their city a happier place. Not only is Lola helping her mother do the graffiti but she was also the one to inspire her mum to start painting chickens.
“I didn’t want to do letters because everyone does letters and I don’t like letters that you can’t read. So I thought I’d something that, like, my children would see and would make them smile,” Binty recalled.
“I drew a chicken one night and Lola came down the next morning, I think Lola was about four at the time, and she goes ‘ooh I like your chicken in wellies.’ I thought if she likes the chicken and she can tell what it is, that’ll do me.”
As the proud mother added, she wants to make sure that her daughter is respectful and observant when it comes to the career she chose to follow.
“When I painted when I was younger at school, I think I was more into vandalism should we say, than art,” the mother added.
“I didn’t have quite the respect that I have matured to now. My parents weren’t quite as approving back then, shall we say.”
As the graffiti artist also admitted, she chose to stay anonymous and be known under the pseudonym of Binty Bint because she doesn’t believe that art is about her even though her works are gaining popularity.
“I like to keep my identity anonymous because I don’t think the art is really about me. It’s about the art – I don’t think you really need to know what I look like, what I get up to and all that jazz,” she added.
