A great-grandfather has passed away after getting punched by a young man.
69-year-old Robert ‘Bob’ Ketner was “an avid motorcycle rider” and a doting father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who passed away after getting attacked by 20-year-old River Baumann.
According to the reports, Baumann punched the senior man after Ketner asked him to turn his loud music down a notch.
The Sunday incident took place in Rocklin, California, where Baumann was allegedly playing loud music outside the Starbucks located at 5070 Rocklin Road.
After a series of people complained about the loud music, Ketner allegedly confronted the young man and asked him to turn his music down. As a result, the elderly man “was punched … and he never regained consciousness” according to Rocklin Detective Zack Lewis.
“The victim was punched and he fell to the ground sustaining an injury to his head and he never regained consciousness,” Lewis said in an interview with CBS Sacramento.
As the victim’s relatives insisted, the 69-year-old got attacked for trying to get Baumann to stop playing music at a loud volume.
“He was kind of sitting outside, drinking his latte when the vehicle of some sort came by. It was like really loud music; people were complaining about it. So, he pointed out, like, which car it was and asked them to turn their music down,” an unnamed family member told KTXL.
While the police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the case, Lewis pointed out that “no one deserves to lose their life” no matter what the argument was.
Following the attack, Baumann was initially arrested and charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury. After the 69-year-old man’s death, however, the 20-year-old was arrested again and charged with voluntary manslaughter.
