62-Year-Old Grandfather Took His Own Life After Being Humiliated And Traumatized On A TV Show

62-year-old Steven Dymond was found lifeless only a few days after being traumatized and humiliated on The Jeremy Kyle Show when he did not pass a lie detector test.

The grandfather passed away in a suspected suicide only a week after filming the episode which he had gone on with Jane Callaghan, his on-and-off girlfriend.

Dymond, who had just found out that he was a grandfather, felt suicidal after being confronted in the studio about accusations of infidelity. He was asked to sit a lie detector test but he did not pass.

After filming the episodes, he called his friends in tears.

ITV removed all past episodes from its website and stopped the scheduled broadcast. Since 2005, MPs called for the show to be scrapped as it can exploit vulnerable people.

Dymond’s ex-partner, Callaghan, recalled how she told him to “get his stuff and go” when they came back from the show.

“He also kept texting me, leaving voicemails. In one text, he said, ‘I can’t live without you. I just wanted to come and see you. I just wanted to say sorry before I go. My life is not worth living without you’,” she told The Sun.

The show, which was scheduled to air this week, was pulled out after he was found lifeless in his bedroom after committing suicide.

Callaghan said Dymond was determined to face cameras even though he had been diagnosed with depression when their relationship broke down.

Days before he died, he had reconnected with his estranged son who informed him that he had already become a grandfather. Unfortunately, he never got the chance to see his grandchild.

Callaghan said: “I know we split up a week ago but we were together for two years. He was still my fiancé. I still loved him. As much as he was a pig to me I still loved him.

“We got engaged Christmas Day 2017. He was crying, the love was real. He was the most generous and loving person.

“He was quietly struggling, and we didn’t know at the time. He cheated on me, I know he did. I can’t forgive but I just want him to be alive.”

She added: “I can’t see Steve taking his life without explaining it to me first. But he always said he would never love someone else.

“The doctor had prescribed him morphine for his severe arthritis. But he had stopped taking it in case it affected the lie detector.

“We didn’t know if it would but he didn’t want to touch anything just in case.”

Shelly, a hospital worker, said Dymond moved in with her after breaking up with his ex amid cheating allegations. She admitted he was still in love with Callaghan.

“He was distraught and devastated. He was traumatized. Steve said it got quite nasty on the show,” Shelly said. “’He told me that he had wanted to kill himself when he was being driven back to Portsmouth by a taxi that the show had booked.

“He said he thought about overdosing on his medication and throwing himself out of the moving car. He was just a mess and he was just humiliated.”
