World War Two veteran grandfather walked his granddaughter down the aisle and passed away two days later.

The bride has now revealed what her grandfather said to her at her wedding.

94-year-old grandad Bronislaw ‘Grom’ Karwowski walked his granddaughter Joanna Sema down the aisle and said to his granddaughter that he was proud of her.

He also said that he was proud he could live to see his granddaughter marry the love of her life.

The 30-year-old bride said he told her: “I was looking forward to this moment and I am proud I have lived to see it.”

“He promised he would walk me down the aisle and he kept his word. In the following days, just before his death, I promised him that I would not let him die at the hospital.”

She said after the story went viral: “I am a professional nurse and I was with him at home. I said goodbye to him and he said he was so proud that the news of him walking me down the aisle had been reported. He said to me, ‘We’re on Facebook!'”

She added “I’m really surprised and happy that the story of my granddad was so widely heard.point 294 |

During World War II, Bronislaw ‘Grom’ Karwowski was captured as a POW by the Nazis.

However, he escaped from the Gestapo’s headquarters in Poland but he was arrested again in 1948 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Later, he received many medals, including the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Poland.

His granddaughter said: “I moved in with my grandparents when I was one and they took care of me.”

“He was amazingly patient. He had 13 grandchildren and all of us would fight over who got to sleep next to him because he used to tell nice fairy tales and stories.”
