When 27-year-old Brenna Kleman married her husband Brock Kendall, they made an unconventional choice of choosing their 83-year-old grandmother to be the flower girl.
Her grandma was more than happy to oblige, telling Good Morning America: “I felt excited and blessed to be there.”
Brenna, a registered nurse, said that one of her elderly patients gave her the idea as she had also been a flower girl at her granddaughter’s wedding.
When the bride-to-be asked her grandmother if she could be the flower girl, the octogenarian grandma was very happy to oblige.
“The whole congregation just could not stop smiling when they watched Grandma walk down the aisle. She got a little teary eyed … she said she wanted to make sure that she did everything OK for my day,” Brenna expressed.
Wedding photographer Thomas Felts captured Grandma jumping into the air as she happily threw rose petals around her.
Grandma, who carried the rose petals in a small basket, smiled at the guests after she emptied it.
“Age doesn’t matter,” the groom said. “Grandma’s 83 years young and in the picture, she’s off the ground jumping and throwing flowers.”
Grandma has been married to Brenna’s grandfather for more than 60 years. Her granddaughter now hopes her own marriage will be just like theirs.
Brenna’s grandfather has been sick but Grandma’s uplifting attitude keeps them on top. They might not be able to dance together, but Grandma brings him and his walker to dancing venues so he can see her moves.
One internet user said: “That’s awesome. Seem like a great grandma!”
Another commented: “I want to be friends with that Grandma.”
A third wrote: “Love it! Go Grandma!”
