When Maxine Bradley takes out her clarinet, her husband takes out cotton wool for his ears.
However, the 78 years old grandma is not ready to give up because according to her, the instrument has cured her chronic asthma that she had been suffering for over 50 years.
She took up clarinet last year after her friend recommended that it could help her with wheezing.
Maxine, who is a grandmother of three, said that she had been suffering from chronic asthma since she was 27 years old, which made her wheeze all the time.
After taking clarinet, she has seen a significant improvement in her condition. It is the first time she had been so free of wheeze with no sign of asthma.
Maxine further revealed that her husband put cotton buds in his ears while she plays the instrument. She says that she is not aware if it is medically recognized, but it has definitely helped her.
She says that the control required to play the clarinet has strengthened her lungs. Her 81 years old husband Tony brought her the clarinet on her 77th birthday in February last year. The Grandma spent 12 months on the lessons at the local Blackpool Music Academy.
Maxine who is isolating at her home located in Lytham St. Annes, Lancs said that when she first took up clarinet everyone in her family were in frenzy and thought that she is going mad. She revealed that she used to play a bit of tambourine during her school time.
Maxine more than ever has the time to play her clarinet as she is stuck inside just like the rest of us. While we are sure it had been great for her, we wonder how Tony might be dealing with it. We bet he secretly enjoys watching her play the clarinet.
