88-year-old Tinney Davidson has been waving to students of Highland Secondary School for more than 12 years.
When the students heard that she was moving into an assisted living home, they gathered outside her home to wave their final goodbye.
According to CBC News, Davidson has been waving to the children since moving into her house in 2007 with her husband. She never stopped even after he died.
“I just liked the look of the children,” she told CBC News in 2014. “They all looked in and I thought, ‘If they’re looking in, I’ll wave to them,’ and that’s how it started.”
Last week, more than 400 students visited her and gave her not only a wave goodbye but also handmade signs and flowers.
“I was shocked again that there’s so many kids that want to say goodbye to me,” she expressed.
In 2014, Highland Secondary School held an assembly for her to give her recognition on what she has done for the community. In 2016, more than 50 students brought her Valentine’s Day cards and cookies, according to CBC.
She told the news outlet at that time: “I was just enthused by them. They’re just wonderful children. They just make me feel so good. You know, it’s just, ‘Love you, you’re wonderful, you’re amazing,’ love and kisses and everything else.”
She continued: “Well, I think I’m just the luckiest lady alive, really and truly. I have so much joy from them.”
Students were seen with large signs that read: “Thanks 4 being awesome.” Another sign read: “We love you Mrs. Davidson.”
