Grandmother Sentenced To Prison For Taking The Lives Of Twin Grandsons Both With Autism


A grandmother from Arizona was sentenced to 21 years in prison after he shot her twin grandchildren, who both had autism.

The twin boys had been left in her care after their mother committed suicide.

56-year-old Dorothy Flood fatally shot 8-year-old Jordan and Jaden Webb, both had severe autism. According to prosecutors, the children wore diapers and were said to be nonverbal. Jaden also suffered from asthma while his brother Jordan suffered from digestive problems.

The twins were in Flood’s care after their mother took her own life 3 years earlier. Flood decided to quit her job to help the kids but it became too much for her.

Her former co-worker at the University Medical Center said to KOLD-TV: “Somewhere, something snapped. My first reaction was of course no, it could not be the same Dorothy we knew.”

The prosecutors said: “She in her letter said when she took the gun out of the drawer, she said, ‘I am sorry buddy, we are not getting better. They cannot help us, so we are going to leave, the three of us.’”

The grandmother’s defense attorney said that she was mentally unstable and just wanted to help her grandsons end their suffering and pain.

Jaden was shot in the chest and Jordan was shot in the stomach before Flood shot them both in the head.

She then tried to commit suicide by taking some pills but she was revived while the children were pronounced dead.

During her sentencing hearing, the grandmother said: “I loved those boys. I never intended to harm them. I am so sorry that I did.”
