Saying that “a dog is a dog” is like saying “a person is a person.” That’s too general a statement and doesn’t encapsulate the complexity of what a living being is. So while it’s true that dogs can be described as loyal friends for life, there are many breeds out there with certain traits and special quirks that you would tend to associate with that breed.

And when you include the unique personality traits that are inherent with living creatures and you sometimes get the behavior that is both hair-pulling and hilarious at the same time (depending on if you’re the observer or the object of attention!).

Great Danes are no different. Physically, Great Danes stand out (literally) with their long legs, giant heads, and, of course, their goofy personalities. Anyone who has ever owned a Great Dane will quickly realize that these gentle giants are usually oblivious of their weight and size. They will lovingly lean on people to show their affection not realizing that their strength will make it just as likely that they will end up bowling people over.

Bandit is as lovable as he is adorable. However, his sense of humor easily creates havoc in the house because he has the habit of sitting his big butt on any family member who happens to stretch out on the living room’s floor as he can be seen doing on this video.

Laurie, who is holding the camera, can’t control her laughter as Bandit plants his butt squarely on Devin’s face. He even looks pleased with himself and wags his tail all the while innocently looking at the camera.

Good thing Devin is a nurse so he knows how he can most effectively sanitize his face after such close contact with Bandit’s behind. Besides, he also knows that Bandit isn’t being malicious but is just his quirky way of showing affection.

Despite Bandit’s antics, he actually has a very important role in the family, one that he superbly carries out. He also performs the role of a service dog to Danielle, another member of the family who is autistic. Bandit has been specially trained to pick up certain signals and behaviors and distract Danielle whenever needed. Bandit is quite smart and can even help the family locate Danielle if she wanders off.

Whether it’s laughter or much-needed comfort, Bandit provides either in abundance for the family he so dearly loves and loves him back.
