Residents of Mate City in the east of the Athens lived a nightmare on 23 July.
A wildfire broke off in the city and people living there, had no option other than vacating the city and their houses to save their lives.
The fire broke instantly because of which, some people were stuck in their cars and some on the edge of the cliff. The people who somehow managed to reach the beach, jumped off in the sea to save their lives.
One of the survivors from the incident recorded a video footage of the people in the sea. In the footage, we can see people embracing and huddling together in groups to make sure everyone stays alive.
The air above the city as well as above the sea was filled with smoke from the flames.
The officials said, 83 people were killed in the fire and the count will only rise. They also told that more than 1,000 houses were burnt during the fire and around 300 vehicles got in too.
Officials were able to identify 30 out of 83 bodies, they said that many bodies are not in the condition of identification.
