An organization has honored young Swedish climate change warrior Greta Thunberg with a 4-story-high mural that made its home in downtown San Francisco.

The depiction of the 16-year-old eco-warrior was funded by OneAtmosphere.org, a not-for-profit organization that is “dedicated to promoting the fight against global climate change and preserving our environment for generations to come” according to their website.

As Paul Scott, the director of the association, said in an interview with CNN, they came up with the idea to make a mural of Greta in order to applaud her for her contributions towards the environment.

“If we can amplify her message and get more people involved and listening to what she’s saying, then we’re doing some good,” he said.

As Scott claimed, plenty of people praised their creation, whereas some pointed out they didn’t recognize the young lady.

“They’re struck by the image and want to learn more. If they take the time to learn more about what she’s trying to share, that I think has an impact on most people. Makes them want to help,” Scott shared.

As for the critics of the mural, they argued that the paint used for the creation of the mural only further contributed to pollution. In one of the pictures, the artist is seen wearing a safety mask while spraying paint over the mural using what appears to be an aerosol spray.

While the San Francisco Greta mural sure is big, it isn’t the first piece of art of its type. Previously, artists depicted the eco-warrior on a 4-story-high residential building in Istanbul, Turkey.
