A groom banned his brother from his wedding after finding out that his brother was planning to propose his girlfriend on his own big day.
An anonymous groom from the US shared on Reddit that he is due to get married next month and his brother has made some plans on that event.
The brother sent a picture of an engagement ring he had bought for his girlfriend and when the groom asked when he’s going to propose to his girlfriend, he said: ‘I’ll probably do it at your wedding’.
Initially, he thought his brother was joking but when he said he was not joking, the groom was left shocked.
He wrote: ‘I thought it was common knowledge that you’re not supposed to propose (or announce pregnancies) at someone else’s wedding.
I told him that he should definitely not do it, as it would be seen as disrespectful to me and my soon-to-be wife.
He told me that it “seems like a good time” because they would be together with the rest of his family.’
He told him that he would have to uninvite them if he kept saying that he would propose at his wedding.
But, the brother called him ‘rude’ and insisted that it would be a good time to propose.
The groom also asked his brother not to bring the engagement ring to the wedding but the brother said he would bring it “just in case.”
The next morning, the groom contacted the wedding venue and asked them to remove his brother and his girlfriend’s name from the list of their table.
He then told his brother that he had banned him and his girlfriend from his wedding.
After banning them, the groom said his brother and his family were disappointed at him and he was forced to reinvite them.
But, the groom and his fiancee were not ready to take the risk.
The groom asked on the Reddit’s ‘Am I The A****le’ forum if he has done the right thing.
Redditors supported the groom and advised him to hire security so no one could ruin their big day.
