A 34-year-old man has passed away only one day after he tied the knot with his bride.
Luke Wheatley, a ‘kind and caring’ father of one, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma called Anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
Sadly, he died of cancer just one day after he and his wife Melissa tied the knot, according to Yorkshire Live.
The family had just moved to Cleethorpes in Bradford after their daughter Matilda was born.
Stuart Andrews, the manager of Docks Beers where Luke worked, paid a heartfelt tribute to his close friend and said: “When we found out what had happened, it was heart-breaking. Myself and another member of staff were on the bar when the news came through and we had to take time to process it.
“We’ve always been in contact with Melissa and Luke’s family. We never expected this to happen. It was a massive shock to us all as it came quite suddenly.”
Andrews continued: “We never thought this would happen to Luke, he was such a great guy and an absolutely impeccable bloke. His knowledge of beers was second to none.
“There wasn’t a bad bone in his body and he was always dedicated to his wife Melissa and other members of his family. He was patient, kind and a loving father.
“Luke originally started with our Sunday service and would always have time to chat to customers and friends.
“On the day we opened, he’d never met us but he came in three hours early to make sure we were set up okay.”
“He just came in and said ‘right, what are we doing’? It was as if he’d always been here,” Andrews went on.
“He was a quiet guy, but once you got to know him he opened up so much more.”
Docks Beers also shared a tribute on social media. It said: “A post we hoped we would never have to write. Sadly this morning our dear friend and Docks team member Luke passed away.
“We send our love and condolences to Melissa, his daughter Matilda and all of his family. We are truly sorry for your loss. Luke you will be missed.”
Like’s wife Melissa said: “Luke was so patient, kind and caring.”
