The CDC (Centre for Disease Control and Prevention) has finally issued a statement that has now put this matter to rest.
They claimed that the entire outbreak of almost 109 people getting affected by the E. coli infection that spread across six states in the US.
According to the CDC, during this entire series of events, no death has been reported, but 17 people were hospitalized because of the infection.
The investigation is still in process, and the teams are very close in finding out the contamination source. For now, health officials of CDC have not been able to find the traces of the contaminated material even after searching out at different locations.
The people from the following states got affected because of this infection: Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, and Virginia.
The CDC has so far not released any statement with regards to banning of the ground beef, or neither has it asked the retail shops to stop selling it. However, they have advised all the citizens to cook and deal with the ground beef properly.
The basic symptoms of an infection like E. Coli include diarrhea, stomach cramps, and vomiting and they usually come up three days after the consumption of the contaminated ground beef.
The CDC also mentioned that for every single person reported with this infection; there must be at least five to ten people who might have caught the infection. So far, tainted ground beef is looking to be the culprit as per the findings reported by the CDC.
