A group of four Muslim men has driven six hours far from their home in order to host a free BBQ for the victims of bushfires in NSW.
The four men, who traveled from Lakemba, Sydney, to the Willawarrin Hotel in Port Macquarie, have managed to boost the community’s spirits after offering to cook food for free for victims of raging bushfires.
As the guys were grilling steaks and sausages, a local bakery donated bread to complement the meals given to upset locals after their lives were threatened by wildfires.
“Appreciation post from us all at Willa. Thank you for driving from Sydney to cater lunch for everyone. These guys brought all the food with them as well. Muchly appreciated,” one local wrote as she shared the picture of her alongside the four men.
Soon enough, the men’s act of kindness went viral with thousands of people praising them for their generous actions.
“This is the actual face of Australia and what Australia should look like,” someone suggested.
“This is what makes me proud to be an Aussie. We have to spread love, not hate.. Thank you so much for not forgetting about us,” another one wrote.
One woman, who also attended the free BBQ, addressed the kind men and said they should pay no attention to the few critics who attempted to bad-mouth their kind acts.
“Please take note of the majority. Our community appreciate the time you have taken to cook for and spend time with us. No matter what source of sustenance. Community is all we have in these times,” she wrote.
According to a man who said he knows the group-of-four, the men always look for ways to help those in need.
“They see it as nothing, just a part of their life and faith to help when they can and are able to,” he said.
