A mom from South Bay was upset when she couldn’t track the driver while she was waiting for the food she ordered.
The woman said she never received what she had ordered from a local takeaway through Grubhub app.
Melissa Stone explained that last Sunday, she ordered burgers and fries from Bull Chicks in Chula Vista. After reserving her order, she waited for an hour but couldn’t get what she asked for.

“It was my second time using the app,” said Stone. “Went onto the app, checked the delivery status, and it said it was delivered.”
After looking at the delivery status, Stones got confused. She even checked the front of her door but couldn’t see any food item there.
She then contacted the restaurant and was told that a driver had picked her order 15 minutes ago. Stones then discovered the driver’s name and phone number and realized it was a woman.
She called on the given number but wasn’t responded by the other side. Stones said: “I’m upset and hangry at this point.
“I think somebody was hungry, took my food and ate it.”
Stones who was refunded her amount by Grubhub wasn’t satisfied by the service.
She shared the incident on Facebook where several people commented that they had suffered exactly similar conditions.
Some people reported that at times, even male delivery guys received the food package from the said restaurants but didn’t deliver them to their locations.
Stones said: “They never received their food.”
Grubhub app users who are reporting similar incidents aren’t alone in their claims.
According to a survey taken by US Foods last year, about 30% of drivers snacked a small amount or completely stole the food they were supposed to deliver.
Looking into the recent situation, a spokesperson for Grubhub issued a comprehensive statement that read: “Our mission is to connect hungry diners with great, local restaurants.
“We always want our diners to have the best experience possible, and the vast majority of our 450,000 orders each day are completed without incident or complaints.
“But when things don’t go as planned, we appreciate hearing feedback and work hard to make it right.”
