Guns N’ Roses have paid a touching tribute to the deceased NBA legend Kobe Bryant and other passengers, including his daughter Gianna, who have died in the helicopter crash that took place in California on January 26.
During the Bud Light Super Bowl Festival on January 31, Axl Rose led the rock band in commemorating the nine victims of the accident with Bob Dylan’s ‘Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.’
“I want to dedicate this to Kobe and his daughter and everyone on the flight… their families, and everyone hit by this terrible event,” Rose expressed.
During the performance, the stage screen lit up with photos of Lakers’ #24 and his daughter Gianna.
The touching tribute was made on the same night Los Angeles Lakers honored their deceased teammate at their first match following the accident.
“Now, I got something written down, but Lakers nation, I would be selling y’all short if I read off this s**t so I’m going to go from the heart,” LeBron James, who previously referred to Kobe as his brother, said as he addressed the crowd at Staples Center.
“The first thing that comes to mind is all about family, and as I look around this arena, we’re all grieving… When you’re going through something like this the best thing you can do is lean on the shoulders of your family.
“I heard about the Lakers nation and how much of a family it is and that is absolutely what I’ve seen this week. Not only from the players, not only from the coaching staff, not only from the league, but from everybody.
“Everybody’s that here… this is really, truly a family. I know Kobe, Gianna, Vanessa and everybody thanks you guys from the bottom of their hearts.”
