Not all heroes wear capes, some wear bow ties, and Darius Brown has proved it.
A young man is busy in a very special business: he makes bow ties for shelter animals to help them find a loving home. He is really motivating people to consider adoption.
Darius’ life was tough. When he was 2 years old, he was diagnosed with speech, comprehension, and fine motor skill delays. He was unable to use his own hands properly, and even simple activities were a big challenge for him like tying a shoe.
Darius’ family never gave up.point 137 | At the age of 8, he became an assistant of his older sister, Dazhai, who enrolled in cosmetology school and wants some help in sewing her hair ribbons.point 261 |
The family took it as a good opportunity for the boy to develop his fine motor skills.point 70 | So Darius starts cutting fabric, sew it together, and make ribbons as his sister did.point 141 | And it worked!point 153 | 1
Soon, Darius starts making his own bow ties. His skills make him so perfect that he even started designing and selling them to family, friends, and the public. Since then, bow ties have become an essential part of his life. “I wear bow ties all the time,” Brown says. “Literally everywhere I go, I wear a bow tie.”
Darius’ life has changed in 2017, many people living in America faced huge devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. It is not only humans who suffered from these horrific events, but plenty of cats and dogs lost their owners and were transferred to shelters.
He is a huge dog lover, so he decided to find a new home for these animals. At the age of 11, Brown founded his own company, “Beaux & Paws” that specializes in creating unique and stylish bow ties for people and their furry family members.
For now, Darius has donated many bow ties to animal shelters and adoption centers across the US and the United Kingdom. His amazing way of using his passion for bow ties has made the life of many pets and turned thousands of shelter animals into cute and elegant pets who need a loving home.
With every purchase of a Beaux and Paws product, Darius donates to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He also uses the money to buy fabric and new materials to prepare more bow ties.
This summer, Darius visits different states across the US to volunteer at animal shelters and adoption centers and give them his handmade bow ties.
