A man has undergone a mind-boggling transformation by losing a phenomenal 310 lbs (yes, three hundred and ten pounds) in just around one and a half year.
John Allaire was left with 13 lbs of loose skin on his body, which he then had removed in a life-changing surgery.
Before undergoing this miraculous transformation, the poor guy had to use a commercial scale at a fish market to weigh himself as the standard scales were unable to do so.
Owing to his extreme obesity, John used to wear 8XL shirts. But it all changed when he saw an advert for a camp fitness program on Facebook.
It was being held at The Camp Transformation Center in San Diego, California, where he used to live at the time.
John joined the primary session and vowed to stay away from all his lousy nourishment.
The session guaranteed its participants that they’d lose 20 lbs in 45 days, but John worked so hard that he ended up losing around 20 lbs in just three weeks.
“At that point, it resembled ‘alright well I will perceive what else I can lose,’ and I wound up losing like 30 pounds in that initial a month and a half,” the 27-year-old recalled.
By his 18th month in the program, John had lost a whopping 297 lbs – a record for the center.
John credits his huge success to the emotionally supportive network he found at The Camp as well as the group-centered approach he was subjected to during the program.
Tanya Sites, the camp’s gym center manager, said: “Many individuals will lose a large portion of that weight and simply resemble, ‘I am alright! I am fine. I feel awesome. I lost a great deal of weight. I am great.'”
After going from 540 lbs to a mere 230 lbs, John was left with 13 lbs of excess skin.
In March this year, he underwent a costly procedure to have the loose skin removed from his arms and torso. But he will be requiring another surgery in the near future to remove the bulk of skin from the lower part of his body.
To help cover the expenses of overabundance skin surgery, John also set up a GoFundMe page for himself.
As of now, John has vowed not to get associated with his perilous nourishment again. “It’s one thing to be obese and it’s something else when you reach morbid obese,” he said.
Owing to his post-medical procedure swelling, John has to wear pressure articles of clothing. Besides it, the only recuperation he faces of the surgery is to get used to his new appearance.
“Having the skin gone has been an odd experience,” he said. “Presently it’s turning into an incredible experience, however for some time, it was kind of weird.
“I remember the first week my arm skin was gone, however, I could still feel it. Like, when I move my arm, my brain was feeling the skin was still there.
“I need to check it or like my significant other said despite everything she finds me changing myself and there is nothing there to modify.”
