There are ups and downs in every relationship, and nobody is perfect.
We love each other doesn’t mean that we can’t fight or argue on some point. Every couple has a different way of dealing with their partner, mostly people fights, shouts, avoid each other, don’t pick up calls and many more. If ever your partner did something nasty to annoy you? But, one Twitter user did something unimaginable. Instead of shouting, storming out or saying mean things user @Tgflx1 take a more humorous approach when he gets mad.
To teach his girlfriend a lesson he shared multiple before and after photos of her, he had edited and uploaded when he was mad at his partner.
Renowned relationship psychologist John Gottman says that couples who include humor in their fights are often more successful in the long run than couples who don’t.
Researchers found that those couples who get naughty and tease each other have the strongest relationships. It was found after 39 studies that involved over 15,000 people and lasted for more than 30 years.
But you have to keep some important things in your mind when applying this strategy, or else miscommunication could occur. The first is that it is important that the couple have a shared sense of humor. One of the researchers, Hall, noted that humor is a wide concept, so not everyone has the same idea of what is funny.
Couples who understand each other’s sense of humor have stronger relationships. The second thing is that humor should “provide life to a relationship, inspire laughter, and lighten problems.” Going beyond the limitations, sarcasm, repetition, or mocking is unhealthy. “Having an aggressive sense of humor is a bad sign for the relationship,” stated Hall.
