Flying with cats and dogs can be difficult and pricey but the fact that you can’t keep them in the cabin with you is what makes things get worse.
Pet owners who want to make sure their furry pals are comfortable and safe try their best to avoid cargo hold that some even go as far as deceiving airlines.
A cat owner went viral after sneaking his overweight cat who did not meet the weight requirement onboard. The airline then decided to remove him as he violated the rules.
Mikhail Galin from Russia was going back to his hometown Vladivostok from Riga. However, his trip was interrupted when airport staff didn’t let his cute feline named Victor fly in the cabin.
Employees said that his adorable cat who weighs 22lbs is 5lbs over the allowed limit. Thus, Victor should be placed in the cargo hold.
But Galin didn’t want Victor to stay in the uncomfortable area.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Victor said that his 4-year-old feline always feels bad during flights. So he decided to trick airport staff into thinking that his furry companion is not really fat!
Galin posted on social media asking people if he could borrow a cat that looks like his chubby Victor. Lucky for him, someone has a similar cat who weighs less than the fat feline.
The quick-thinking pet owner swapped cats at the check-in and returned the ‘fake’ Victor to his friend. He successfully boarded the plane with Victor in his arms. Victory, indeed!
But surveillance footage revealed that Galin broke the rules as it showed him switching Victor for another cat.
The airline decided to kick him out of the flyer program and take away around 400,000 miles from his account.
