The big day is here.
We wait for this announcement every year and finally the results of the Hair Freezing contest are out.
The contest that has been going on ever since it started in 2011, has finally announced its result for the year 2019-2020.
The contest that was conducted in Takhini Hot Pools in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, drew in 288 contenders this year but only shortlisted 5 contestants for their exceptionally creative and frozen hairstyles.
The contest has 5 categories in total to choose a winner from. The categories are Best Group, Best Female, Best Male, Nongshim Noodles People’s Choice Award, and Tim Hortons’ Most Creative.
Each winner was awarded 2,000 Canadian dollars which equals to 1,411 US dollars. They will also enjoy an absolutely free dip in the hot springs and will also win a 12 punch pass for free for the facility. The facility will open in the fall of 2020.
Andrew Umbrich, being the owner of the Takhini Hot Pools talked about the history of the contest.
He said that the contest started back in the year 2011 and was a very small competition back then. He said that till 2015, they would only get 10 submissions a year.
In the year 2015, the contest went viral and ever since then, they have been receiving a lot of participants.
Simultaneously the prize money has also gone up.
