Since we were kids we had been taught that shaking hands is a kind gesture in the professional environment and it becomes mandatory to shake hands with the person who is going to be your employer, right?
Yes, the rule had been there since very long but it looks like it is not going to be the same anymore under the new rule of “No Physical Contact.”
Well, the employers might ban the handshake regarding the rule of no physical contact in the workplace. Sexual harassment claims are the one thing that comes out a lot of times from the workplace and to know if the accused is guilty or not becomes the major issue.
To cure the same, employers are taking up a new policy that will cut down the problem of physical harassment occurring in the workplace by restricting the physical contact so no employee gets the wrong idea of intentions.
Kate Palmer says “There are many employers who are thinking of putting a complete ban on physical contact to save the harassment issue.
But the question that lingers in my mind is what the limit is. And how far a handshake does make in the list, I don’t understand.”
“They might restrict it because they fear for the line that stands in between but no that will only take away the affection and this is sad, sad.”
“It looks like one of the employers has already taken up the idea and he is working on it. In his post, it was stated that only fist bumps are allowed from now on.”
She added “Even when it is not restricted and any kind of physical contact is allowed, I would very rarely go and hug a college because no one wants to end up in a situation of being too personal.
That is not just how this works but the handshakes are the most we have and I think that is something that should not be taken away.”
