The magazine quoted Hanks who reportedly said that there are three things people can be doing right now to “get to tomorrow”. According to the actor, these are wearing a mask, socially distancing and vigilantly washing one’s hands.

Hanks emphasized how all three of these activities can be done so easily as long as one has the will to do so. Unlike for his famously kind and warm persona, Hanks went so far as to “shame on you” for everyone who refuses to practice those three acts during a pandemic.

Both Hanks and Wilson contracted the virus in Australia back in March. Hanks was there for a Baz Luhrmann biopic on Elvis Presley, where Hanks has been casted to play the role of the King’s manager. Wilson had a musical tour around Australia planned for her album.

Hanks explained how he got relatively lucky, especially compared to his wife who went through much more severe symptoms. After returning to the US, the couple has voluntarily donated their plasma in order to aid researchers.

They also had a heartwarming incident when an Australian boy named Corona sent a mail to the Hanks to wish them a speedy recovery. To express their gratitudes, Hanks sent a Corona typewriter to the boy, saying that he has a friend in him.

Hanks said that people can participate in the fight against the virus by playing their role – which is to curb the spread of the virus before a vaccine or a treatment becomes readily available.

The actor likened following the three practices to a driver making sure that he or she drives under the speed limit. In other words, he said it is common sense that everyone follow basic measures.
