It has been a long time since the Queen has held her youngest great-grandson.
So on her birthday, she got a treat of watching her 11-month old great-grandson Archie on a video call.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex video-called the monarch from their California home to wish her birthday. However, it was not an intimate affair.
The couple who typically appears to be obsessed with their privacy was all excited to tell the media about their chat with the Queen. Their spokesman has sent an email to selected publications to share the news soon after the chat.
The news comes after the couple was asked to suspend their Sussex Royal website as well as the Instagram page after they quitted their Royal duties.
Meghan and Harry rushing to make the public announcement seemed odd, especially considering Buckingham Palace stated that the calls between Queen and her family members should be kept private and low-key.
Last week, Queen’s spokesperson announced that the Queen has decided to scale down the celebration of her birthday. This means that there would be no flag flying or gun salutes due to the coronavirus.
This is the first time in the monarch’s reign that her birthday is not being celebrated on a grand scale. The spokesperson revealed that the majesty would not be celebrated in a special way, and the calls from the family will be kept private.
He continued by saying that there will be no gun salutes or any other kind of special measures. The spokesperson informs that the monarch said that she does not feel right to take part in celebration under the current circumstances.
Sussex’s decision to reveal that their son who they do not want to grow up in the public eye, had appeared in a video chat with the Queen has made people rather curious.
The couple has also refused to interact with a majority of Britain’s newspapers due to the way their lives have been covered by the UK media. According to Meghan and Harry, they were subjected to inaccurate reporting and harsh criticism.
