Harry Styles channeled Dorothy Gale from The Wizard Of Oz for a Halloween-themed concert on his tour.
Harry Edward Styles, 27, is an English singer, songwriter, and actor. He was a former member of the boy band One Direction, which went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
On Saturday evening, the 27-year-old singer took part in the first of his two Halloween-themed shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, where he dressed up and performed on stage as Judy Garland’s iconic character from 1939’s The Wizard Of Oz.
He stunned his 40 million Instagram followers on Sunday night as he shared an amazing image of him in a full Dorothy attire.
Wearing a blue and white dress reminiscent of the one that Garland wore as Dorothy in the popular film, Styles completed his look with rosy red cheeks, red tights, and a matching bow in his hair alongside a pair of ruby red Gucci slippers.
His cover of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” was the highlight of the night, according to many attendees on social media, but of course, he performed all the hits from his own solo album as well.
Styles performed in front of thousands of fans who filled the sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York with costumes such as unicorns, Britney Spears, and princesses.
Even with a heavy percentage of accompanying parents, at least 65% of the attendees were decked out to the nines, and Styles and his band did not disappoint either, as all of the musicians wore elaborate “Wizard of Oz” costumes.
“Growing up in England, we like Halloween,” the singer said early in the show. “But we definitely didn’t get into it like you do.”
Then he walked around the stage in his costume and says “I look cute!”
After a closing double-punch of “Watermelon Sugar” and “Kiwi,” Styles clicked his heels three times, picked up his basket, and exited stage left.
Styles is currently traveling the country for his “Love on Tour” performances, which began in early September in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Since launching his solo career, Styles has consistently challenged gendered approaches to fashion, most famously appearing on the cover of Vogue last year wearing a Gucci ballgown dress.
Naturally, his fans were instantly obsessed with his outfit, with hundreds taking to social media to praise him for his costume.
“Happy harryween weekend to harry styles only,” Author Matt Bellassai tweeted.
“Did I fall more in love with Harry Styles tonight?” another fan wrote. “The answer is yes.”
“Can’t believe there are people out there who witnessed harry styles dress as dorothy and sing somewhere over the rainbow for halloween and i wasn’t one of them,” another one has added.
Styles is set to make a surprise appearance as Thanos’ brother, Eros, in Marvel’s latest drama Eternals.
