In a highly touching and symbolic way, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent the 23rd anniversary of Princess Diana’s death by planting Forget-Me-Nots during their visit to a preschool in Los Angeles.
After resigning from all public duties as royalty in March, the couple have newly moved into a $14 million mansion in Santa Barbara, California. Yesterday, they visited a local preschool, where the aforementioned gardening event along with others took place.
For instance, it is said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took time citing nursery rhymes and reading books about gardening and vegetables with the children. This volunteer likely just coincided with the still tragic death of Princess Diana, which the couple later decided to remember.
The school expressed the utmost gratitude for the works that Harry and Meghan put in, saying that the two not only made a visit to the center but actually took time to engage with the children with an emphasis on the importance of growing a healthy diet from a young age.
Princess Diana’s death on August 31, 1997 sent shockwaves around the globe. She was just 36 years old when she passed away following a traffic accident in France. This was after she had divorced Prince Charles.
In loving memory of his mother, Forget-me-nots have been featured in some of the Prince Harry’s biggest public events. For instance, Meghan chose the flowers as her wedding bouquet not only because of the meaning but also because Diana herself loved the flower.
In another example, Harry chose to name his charity organization in the African nation of Lesotho as Sentebale. In local tongue, sentebale refers to Forget-me-nots. Just days ago, Prince Harry and William announced that a statue of their mother will be erected in Kensington Palace in memory.
Although the couple is said to be loving their time in the US and especially in their new home, various media reports expect the Duke and Duchess to spend more time in the UK in 2021, especially to participate for the public unveiling of Princess Diana’s statue.
At the moment however, Harry said that he can’t wait to teach Archie, his young son, how to play rugby. He added that it is neigh impossible to get access to rugby in the US.
