The Duke and the Duchess of Sussex didn’t attend the annual Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham while the other members of the Royal family, including the Queen, Kate Middleton, and Prince Charles were there.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were not at the annual Christmas Day service and many were curious to know the reason.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry didn’t attend the annual Christmas Day service because they decided to spend the day with their son Archie in Canada.
The palace announced: “The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both.”
“The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family. They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”
However, this is not the first time someone has skipped the Royal celebration.
The Cambridges also missed the Christmas day celebration in 2012 and 2016 to spend the day with the Middleton family. Harry also missed the Christmas day celebration in 2012 while he was on active duty in Afghanistan.
This year, Meghan and Harry, who spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, turned down the Queen’s invitation.
They were criticized for their decision. Many celebrities were also disappointed with the Duke and the Duchess’ decision of not attending the annual Christmas Day service.
Sir Rod Stewart said: “The Queen is 93.point 149 | I flew round the world to be with my mum and dad at Christmas because I knew they didn’t have many left.point 234 |
