Who can forget Harry Potter and his adventures at Hogwarts and the Magical World? Apparently not the Chinese Potterhead fandom, as The Philosopher’s Stone sets a new box office record for the franchise this week at the recently reopened Chinese box office.
The influx of the revenues coming from the remastered version of the 2001 movie is such that the overall accumulative revenue for the first installment of the series is set to exceed 1 billion dollars. The Chinese cinemas are putting their best to attract more audience with 4K remastered movie quality combined with 3-D technology for the better Hogwarts experience. The current earnings are just shy of the expected mark, $997.8 million worldwide – inches away from hitting $1 billion.
