Hundreds of Harry Potter fans came to King’s Cross station, London to mark the first day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on September 1.
Hogwarts opens its doors every year on 1st September and is celebrated at Back To Hogwartz Day.
Fans collect at the London transport hub to imitate the scene of students passing through the wall to the concealed Platform 9 and ¾ where the Express train to Hogwarts waits. Harry Potter fans came to the station for the collective countdown to the extremely popular train’s 11 a.m. journey.
‘Edinburgh via Hogsmeade’ marked the train’s departure. The board was hung on the main entrance hall to illustrate the village where Hogwarts is based.
Thirty-year-old Wanchirun Terakosolphan from Thailand was amongst the fans who turned out. He said that he felt that he has become a young boy again upon being surrounded by a bunch of Potterheads who are into the same thing.
He added that he had grown up with the magical story and so did they. Talking about the bond between Potterheads, he exclaimed that is is a bond between characters, story, fans, and the casts.
Mr. Terakosolphan also noted that it was his first Back to Hogwarts Day. The event included a dance performance from the West End musical Harry Potter And The Cursed Child’s cast.
A journalist present at the event estimated that there were more than three hundred Potterheads present. The fans were dressed as their most liked characters from the movies, books, and stage franchise.
The journalist, Stefanie Gerdes, added that Harry Potter has been a huge part of her life growing up, and so attending the event feels like fiction coming true.
Last year, the event was attended by actors Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne, who surprised their fans before the release of Fantastic Beasts, latest in the Harry Potter spin-off movie franchise.
