Jana Schmieding who is a comedic writer, podcast host, performer and educator in L.
A. found herself in a disgraceful situation according to her recent experience at the Universal Studios.
Jana shared her experience on a Huffington post where she narrated the entire incident. Some time back Jana was in guilt because she had not been able to give a read to the books based on Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.
She finally one day decided to get into it and discover the fantasy world created by the critically-acclaimed writer J.K. Rowling.
Jana got super-engaged in the Hogwarts world and couldn’t have enough of it. She lives in L.A, and Universal Studios isn’t so far away that she can’t pay a visit to the landmark place responsible for so many blockbuster movies.
She eventually decided to pay a visit along with her three friends. While at her time at the Universal Studios exploring the world of Harry Potter she ended up posting a lot of Instagram stories.
Jana’s dear friend Ruha who has also been one of the speakers on her podcast “Woman of Size” texted her to give a heads-up regarding the place.
She revealed to her that she was asked to walk-off the Hogwarts ride because she didn’t fit and in return they handed her front of the line passes to the rest of the rides. But Jana had other plans, and she decided not to back off.
Jana and her friends lined up in the queue for their thrilling experience they so far have imagined for the ride, but as they were about to step on, 20 something managers came to them to stop them from taking the ride because of the safety issue as described by Jana in her post.
She further writes that this was quite humiliating that they were asked to stop just because the company wants to save the people from our fatness.
She pointed out that such a practice promotes “Exclusion” and that is not at all motivating but a form of bullying. She says that being excluded has what made her investigate and learn about such discriminations.
Jana states that such experiences have to be designed by keeping in mind about all the people whether of what size they have. She also took a shot at the books on the fact that the stories portray all the fat characters antagonistic.
According to her, the books are more realistic than fiction now.
