Prince Harry’s HRH title has been removed at the exhibition celebrating the life of his late mother Princess Diana.
The Duke of Sussex’s ‘His Royal Highness’ title has been removed from the placard at the event at the Kensington Palace.
The text next to the late Princess of Wales’ wedding dress now reads: “Lent by HRH the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex.”
The changes show the continuing sensitivities over the Duke of Sussex’s departure from royal life and his decision to move to the US with his wife Meghan and their son Archie.
Under the arrangement, it was agreed that Harry and Meghan could retain their HRH styles but the couple ‘has agreed not to use them.’
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they would work towards becoming ‘financially independent’ when they announced their decision to step down as working royals last year.
The exhibition titled Royal Style in the Making includes Diana’s wedding dress, designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel.
Also on the exhibition is the pink suit with ruffle detail created by Belville Sassoon designers, which the late Princess of Wales wore when she departed on her honeymoon. She also wore it on many different occasions, including the royal couple’s Australia tour in 1983.
Both dresses are being loaned by Harry and his brother Prince William.
Placards at the exhibition initially described Diana’s items as ‘lent by HRH the Duke of Cambridge and HRH the Duke of Sussex.’
In a statement, the Royal Collection Trust said the dresses were ‘loaned by HRH the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex’ and that ‘due to an administrative error, for which the Royal Collection Trust was responsible, the labels were incorrect and will be updated.’
