Prince Harry and Prince William were standing side by side as they unveiled the statue in their late mother’s honor.
Putting on a united front and setting the rift between them aside for a moment, the two warring princes issued a joint statement as they uncovered the sculpture made in Princess Diana’s honor.
The bronze statue, which was created by Ian Rank-Broadley, was placed in Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden where it remains surrounded by the late Royal’s favorite flowers.
The towering statue shows Diana walking with three children of whom two are barefoot. As the palace suggested, this sculpture “represents the universality and generational impact of The Princess’ work.”
To commemorate the day that would be their mother’s 60th birthday, William and Harry also released a joint statement following the event.
“Today, on what would have been our Mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better,” they expressed.
“Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.
“Thank you to Ian Rank-Broadley, Pip Morrison and their teams for their outstanding work, to the friends and donors who helped make this happen, and to all those around the world who keep our mother’s memory alive.”
Following the unveiling of the statue, Harry quickly took leave. As of this writing, it is still not clear to us whether the prince headed to Frogmore Cottage to meet with the Queen or back to Los Angeles where Meghan is waiting with their two children.
