Okay, admit it.
As a kid, you probably pulled a prank or two and it was one of the funniest and best moments you’ve ever had. Whether it’s stealing some apples from a neighbor’s orchard or dumping a bucket of ice-cold water on an unsuspecting friend, they’re just one way for kids to blow off some steam and relieve boredom.
And it can be amazing how creative they can be at these times which bodes well for their problem-solving abilities when they grow up. Sometimes the best pranksters are also the ones who come up with the most creative solutions to problems.
But it’s another matter when a life is put at risk as happened to a poor homeless man when a group of cruel kids set his tent on fire while laughing and throwing rocks at him.
A witness named John told Classic Hits radio host Niall Boylan that he saw a gang of around 10 kids, both boys and girls, throw rocks and stones at the hapless man just before they set fire to his tent in Dublin, Ireland, on Tuesday.
He said: “I hear kids shouting and running. So I look out the window and I saw a man getting out of the tent. There was this big group of kids aged around ten and there was probably about ten of them. They were running out across the road.
“About a minute later the group of kids came back and were chucking things at the tent. Rocks and sticks and things. So I don’t know what had gone on before but he had gone back in [the tent] and was ignoring it.
“Then they start talking about setting a fire, and that’s when I called the guards.”
John also described the moment one of the kids set fire to the tent.
“One of them ran up and lights the bottom of the tent and runs away. It runs out and they run back and do it again.
“Eventually they light the top and the group of them runs off. The man climbs out so he’s safe he’s out.
“Within a couple of minutes, the whole tent is on fire.”
A worker from the Dublin City Council managed to put out the fire and thankfully, the homeless man was safe.
