A Dunkin’ Donuts employee who lives in Staten Island, New York has been praised for his kindness and friendship towards a customer with autism.
The Dunkin’ Donuts employee who is known as Bryan Lara, 36, has been working at Dunkin’ Donuts for five years.
Bryan always tries to remember his customers and their tastes to make them feel more homely while they visit the Dunkin’ Donuts.
During January, Donald Simon a 26-year-old visited Dunkin’ Donuts with his aid Angela Jasmine. As Simon is an autistic patient and nonverbal, it makes it difficult for him to maintain a friendship with people around him.
When Bryan saw them inside the store, he made sure to stop by and make them feel welcomed and happy. When he realized that Simon could not speak, he decided to communicate with him using another form of communication – Dance.
Lara started dancing, and he was hoping that Simon would see his enthusiasm and join in. After some time when Simon began to love it, he started moving in his chair and started flashing thumbs up for the camera.
Angela took the video of the whole situation and sent it to Donna Maxon who is Simon’s mother. Donna loved the video so much that she decided to post it online and soon after that the video went viral all over the social media.
With the video, Maxon conveyed a message that kindness come in many forms and it can change a lot around you. She said that there are people who wouldn’t even pay any attention to Simon when they realize that he is not able to communicate, but the way Bryan creatively found a way to communicate with my son is heartwarming.
Maxon was delighted to see her son enjoying his time around Bryan. She also said that my son made a nice friend that day and I am so happy about it.
She also praised Bryan saying that the guy has a heart of gold and deserves appreciation for being so kind. It’s incredible to see the kindness that Bryan shows to the people around him.
